MARQUETTE - Twin brothers Colin and Carson VanderSchaaf led the 23-member Marquette YMCA Killer Whales swim team at the Wisconsin/Upper Peninsula State Championships in Brown Deer, Wisconsin, March 18-20.All participating athletes swam qualifying times during the course of the regular competition season from October to early March.Colin, 10, captured three individual age group state championships. Marquette skiers place

Sisters Ella, right, and Olivia Lunseth of Marquette competed recently at the U.S. Ski Association Central Division Region 2 finale at Ski Brule in Iron River. Ella won the girls Under-14 overall championship and Olivia finished fifth for the Under-10 girls at the meet for the Upper Peninsula, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and eastern Iowa. Rambo 4th at track finals

MARQUETTE - Senior Lance Rambo of Marquette Senior High School was the lone Upper Peninsula representative at the Michigan Indoor Track Series finals held at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids on Feb. 27.Athletes from every division in the state who had run-qualifying times at an earlier indoor meet earned an invitation to these indoor track finals.Rambo finished fourth overall in the mile in 4 minutes, 27 seconds.
