Legends North wins Shootout

The Legends North girls basketball team won all three of its games to capture the championship in its division of the Great Wolf Lodge Shootout 5-on-5 tournament in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin, on April 10. The team consists of players from Marquette, Negaunee, Ishpeming and Westwood schools. Peak Level 5 girls place highly

Peak Gymnastics and Fitness Level 5 girls competed in Illinois recently, finishing second overall in the team standings. Austyn Englund placed first on floor, bars, beam and all-around, and second on vault in her division. Lexi Olson finished first on beam and floor, second on bars and all-around, and third on vault. Bell sets state record

Skandia resident and Peak Fitness weightlifter Heather Bell was nominated and won a scholarship to PowerMonkey Fitness Camp in Tennessee in June. In February, she broke the Michigan state record in the master-level, ages 40-49, with a 34-kilogram snatch and 45-kilo clean-and-jerk for a combined 79 kilos. (Submitted photo)

mBank wins U19 girls state ice title

MARQUETTE - The Marquette mBank girls defeated Alpena 2-0 in the championship game to capture the state Under-19 title in March.Goaltender Brianna Holman recorded the shutout, her fourth of the tournament.Sara Cameron and Jillian Frye notched goals for mBank, which posted a 30-16-6 overall record for the season. Collecting assists were Ashley Francis and Sydney Lake.In the semifinals, mBank beat the Bad Axe Snow Leopards, 3-2, behind goals by Frye, Annie Boyer and Lexi Rabitaille.Frye, Hannah Swajanen, Kali Dennis and Lexi Anderson recorded assists as Holman was again in goal.In another ...
