Where’s outrage?

To the Journal editor: Recently, there has been outrage directed at the passage of renewable energy bills which have become law. The claim is that these bills would allow an appointed, unelected board to make decisions on siting of wind and solar projects, over the objections of local zoning officials. State Sen. Ed McBroom, R-Waucedah Township, has been the most vocal of those claiming that this would usurp local control over renewable energy projects. Last week, an unelected board appointed by Gov. Ski jump event set to be better than ever

It’s back and better than ever. The Ishpeming Ski Club is prepping for the longest-running, consecutive ski jumping tournament in the country next month. The Ishpeming Ski Club Ski Jumping Tournament held at the UP Nordic Ski Complex will be held from Jan. 19-21. “The tournament is on a weekend date once again and it’s going to be even bigger and better than last year,” Ishpeming Ski Club Vice President Peter Copenhaver said in an email. “It’s a winter event you will not want to miss.” The weekend kicks off Friday evening with the 137th annual Ishpeming Ski Club ...

First stop was the Peter White Public Library, which was adorned with decorated, artificial evergreen trees. To the Journal editor: I was born in May, 1990 in a snow storm. I learned early on that you needed to work to earn a living. Fast-forward to 2023 and the headlines kill me. Our country is more worried about hatred than knowledge. Our political parties know that they are burnt and still act like they have our best interests at heart. No tunnel under straits

To the Journal editor: Let me get this strait (no pun intended). The Mackinac Strait Line 5 tunnel will be built and paid for by Enbridge. They build a high maintaince house (a cave located beneath a massive volume of water) and give it to State of Michigan taxpayers to maintain and repair for 99 years, but they get to live in the house with their oil pipeline for 99 years as a”high risk guest.” Let’s not forget that the Enbridge’s incompetence in both maintaince of their pipeline as well as within their remote control room, caused a 1 billion dollar oil spill into the ...
