Silver Creek Church celebrates 20 years of providing backpacks

HARVEY — Silver Creek Church will host its annual Backpack SOS community outreach from 9–11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at Silver Creek Church in Harvey. This year marks the 20th year Silver Creek Church has provided backpacks and school supplies to local children. The drive-through event is open to children Pre-K through 12 grade. Children do not need to be present and no pre-registration is required for this drive-through event. MARQUETTE — Police are investigating a death in the city of Marquette, that apparently took place off the Iron Ore Heritage Trail near Wilson Street. According to Det. Capt. Chris Aldrich of the Marquette Police Department, officers were dispatched to the site at about 5 p.m. Saturday for a report of an unresponsive male that was located by a person walking on the path.
