Richard Allen Posio

Born March 31, 1940, in Rock River, Township, a son of Abel Henry and Alice Vivian (Hill) Posio, Richard was raised in Harvey and graduated from Marquette Senior High School. He enlisted in the US Army and served his country during the Vietnam War, receiving awards as an Expert Sharpshooter with the M-1 Rifle and Expert with a Pistol 45, while serving with the military police. Upon his honorable discharge, Richard returned to the Upper Peninsula, enrolling at Michigan Technological University, pursuing courses of study to become an electrician. His completion of an Associate’s degree lead to employment as an electrician with General Motors. Richard, better known to family and friends as “Poz”, will be missed by many. In his spare time, he enjoyed billiards and belonged to the Marquette Men’s Pool League, enjoyed writing poetry, loved a good BBQ with friends, enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR, and was very enthusiastic about making a political difference.

A celebration, honoring Richard’s life, will be held at 12 noon Saturday, March 17, 2019 at the Wooden Nickel.
