MARQUETTE — One man has passed away as a result of a fatal crash that occurred Sunday in Stephenson, Wisconsin, according to a press release from the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.

Hunters discovered the body of Ryan R. Vandenheuvel, 36, of Kaukauna, Wisconsin, in the wreckage of an upside down vehicle around 6:20 a.m. Sunday Parkway Road near Allie Way and Orr’s Lane in Stephenson, police said. The vehicle was cold, indicating the crash had occurred hours prior to its discovery, the release states.

An investigation revealed the vehicle involved in the crash had failed to negotiate a curve, struck a culvert and embankment of trees, then came to rest upside down off Parkway Road near Allie Way and Orr’s Lane, according to police.

Vandenheuvel was alone in the vehicle and the crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and the coroner, police said.
