The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning throughout much of the Upper Peninsula that will remain in effect in many locations until 8 Monday morning. Driving on area roads is discouraged as visibility is limited in many locations. This photo, shot mid morning on West Washington Street at the McClellan Avenue intersection, shows what conditions were like. Waves approaching 20 feet were expected on Lake Superior throughout the day as winds gusted to 45 mph. Snow accumulations were likely to top 1 foot with potentially more in the higher elevations.
