Marquette boys, girls win GNC cross country titles

The Marquette Senior High School boys and girls cross country teams successfully defended their Great Northern Conference titles at the league meet held at North Shore Golf Course near Menominee on Oct. 11. The boys won the title for the fourth consecutive time while the girls have an amazing string of 17 straight championships. Both teams won in a runaway as the Marquette boys scored 32 points to 76 for runner-up Stephenson, while the Redettes had just 23 points to 68 for second-place Gladstone. 906 Adventure youth racers compete in Wisconsin

It was the second race in the Wisconsin High School Cycling League series.Leading the way for the 906 team were siblings Erin and Carson VanderSchaaf. MSHS cross country runners honored

MARQUETTE - A pair of cross country runners were honored as the Superiorland Kiwanis Athletes of the Month for September at Marquette Senior High School.Honored were senior Rebecca McNamee and junior Garrett Rudden.McNamee won her first cross country race at the Marquette County Meet this fall as she has earned all-state, all-Upper Peninsula, all-conference and academic all-state honors.She was also named the Redettes' Most Improved Runner in 2014 and 2015.McNamee also takes part in track, helping MSHS win a U.P. championship, and is involved in Quiz Bowl, is editor of the school ...
