MARQUETTE — The Marquette Senior High School girls varsity soccer team improved its record to 4-2-3 with a 4-0 win over Cheboygan Wednesday night at Kaufman Sports Complex in Marquette.

“We’re very happy with today’s results,” said MSHS head coach Anna Bauers. “Cheboygan was not an easy team to play, but our girls came out strong.”

MSHS was up 3-0 at halftime. Sophomore Bella Lorens led the scoring with two goals off assists by sophomores Adyson Goodney and Hattie Britton, respectively.

Senior Paige Britton added a third goal after a cross from freshman Ellarie Thierry.

Sophomore Addie Ollila rounded out scoring with an assist from sophomore Hannah Mason.

Bauers added, “Our defense worked really we together, communicating and challenging every ball. These girls just keep getting better and better.”

Senior keeper Kaitlyn Des Parois recorded the shutout, her third of the season.

The team travels to Minoqua, Wisconsin, this weekend to take part in the Lakeland Union Invite.
