NMU Athletics names digital media manager
MOLITOR
MARQUETTE — Northern Michigan University Athletics has hired a person specifically to increase its creative vision and strategic execution of multimedia content in Wildcats’ athletic programs.
The hiring of Trevor Molitor was announced last week as digital media manager to direct the athletic department’s graphic design, photography and video production efforts, emphasizing the enhancement of the NMU brand, increasing fan engagement and advancing the athletic department’s digital marketing initiatives.
“We are very excited to welcome Trevor to Northern,” said Zach Nicholas, assistant athletic director for sports information, in an NMU SI news release about Molitor’s hire. “Trevor’s creativity, enthusiasm and passion for collegiate athletics stood out throughout the hiring process.
“We’re excited to see him build upon our digital media efforts and continue elevating the Wildcat brand.”
Molitor sees opportunities abounding at Northern.
“Joining the NMU family is an exciting next step in my professional journey, and I want to thank the entire athletic department for their belief in me,” Molitor said in the news release. “I look forward to leading the digital media efforts and understand the importance of elevating a program and player’s experience in the modern landscape of college athletics.
“I can’t wait to dive in and get to work with our coaches, staff, student-athletes and the university to execute a creative direction we can continue to take pride in.”
He comes to Marquette after serving as content creation and brand management graduate assistant at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, a school that like NMU is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Molitor earned a master’s degree in sports management at Parkside while playing a key role in developing and implementing brand standards and digital content strategies for 17 varsity sports programs.
His efforts were credited as part of Parkside’s significant audience growth on social media, including increases of 36% and 30% in men’s and women’s basketball followings, respectively, during just one season.
Molitor also managed media production and content strategy for The Den Collective, supporting name, image and likeness initiatives while helping align digital branding efforts across the basketball programs.
He is a 2024 graduate of Carthage College, which like Wisconsin-Parkside is located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and management with a minor in graphic design.
As a four-year member of the Carthage men’s soccer program, he paired being an athlete with digital media responsibilities within the athletic department, creating content and managing graphic design projects for his team, along with men’s and women’s basketball and men’s and women’s lacrosse.
Molitor has also gained experience in digital marketing, content creation, game presentation and event management through internships with the Wisconsin Section of the Professional Golfers Association and the Kenosha Kingfish of the summer college baseball Northwoods League.
