MARQUETTE — A handful of area players earned Special Mention and Honorable Mention status in high school girls basketball when the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association held its annual meeting for the sport on Monday at Northern Michigan University in Marquette.

When balloting was held for the Second Team in Divisions 1-3 and Division 4, players receiving at least two votes but missing the Second Team threshold won Special Mention, with all other players being named Honorable Mention.
