ISHPEMING — Thirteen players from Marquette County earned honors when the West PAC announced its boys basketball all-conference teams on Monday afternoon.

They include four players each from Westwood and Negaunee, three from Gwinn and two from Ishpeming.

The special honors headed south, however, with two going to Iron Mountain and another to West Iron County.

Mountaineers senior Foster Wonders was named Player of the Year while his coach, Harvey “Bucky” Johnson, earned Coach of the Year honors.

Another senior, Justin Nelson of WIC, was named Defensive Player of the Year.

Three area players earned West PAC Dream Team laurels.

They are junior Zach Carlson of Westwood and seniors Eli Luokkala of Negaunee and Reid Hill of Gwinn.

Another three — each a teammate in the same class as a Dream Teamer — earned a First Team award.

Those players are seniors Will Luke of Negaunee and James Harnick of Gwinn and junior Zach Beckman of Westwood.

And three more area players, all juniors, earned Second Team plaudits.
