Westwood Patriots sweep another pair of meets Friday for a 4-1 start to season

KINGSFORD — The Westwood High School girls tennis team made it four wins in two days sweeping a pair of matches against the Flivvers and Escanaba on Friday afternoon.

Westwood (4-1) defeated Kingsford 7-1 and the Eskymos 8-0, a day after sweeping Ishpeming and Iron Mountain at home.

“These girls got a lot of tennis in this week, playing five matches in three days,” WHS coach Sarah Massie said. “(On Friday) we battled through some close matches and I was excited to see how we responded to some pressure situations. Our lineup has been shuffled around this week while we figure out what combinations work best.”
