ISHPEMING — The Ishpeming School Board named Christopher Magnuson as boys varsity basketball head coach at its board meeting on Monday night, according to Ishpeming Public Schools athletic director Terry Roberts.

George Niemi had been both boys varsity basketball head coach and varsity football head coach during the 2019-20 school year before resigning this spring. The varsity football head coaches’ position is being reposted after the fall season was canceled or possibly postponed until spring.

Magnuson has been the head coach of the junior varsity girls basketball team for the past seven years, Roberts said.
