TRAVERSE CITY — After spending the majority of the week downstate for the MHSAA Division 1 district tournament, the Marquette girls basketball team will head back to the Upper Peninsula on a high note.

The Redettes took down Traverse City Central 52-32 in the district semifinals Wednesday and will now host Traverse City West at 6 p.m. Friday for the district championship.

Aspen Michelin led Marquette with 14 points, while Avery Ledy chipped in 11.

The Redettes held a slim 12-9 lead after the first quarter and pushed their lead to 25-16 at the half. Marquette started to get rolling the second half, though, taking a 41-23 advantage into the fourth and stayed in control the rest of the way.
