To the Journal editor: With the recent hurricanes in Florida and other southeastern states, a lot of damage and lives were lost. Also, tornadoes in the Midwest and the hot weather in a lot of the southern states. “Climate change is real.” So I will go through our four seasons. Recently we had the fall season. Line crews lauded

To the Journal editor: Among the many things I am thankful for I wish to include the line crews for Wisconsin Energy. They worked through a heavy snowstorm to restore power throughout our community on Thanksgiving Day. Bravo and thank you.

Improper treatment

To the Journal editor: It has become quite clear that we are all missing the point regarding the fate of a convicted child, predator, sex, trafficker, perjury and certified vile person. It is indeed true that she is most improperly incarcerated in a penal institution that more resembles a luxury spa than an appropriate penitentiary designed for such individuals. Catering meals, private accommodations, enhanced phone, privileges, unrestricted liberty and a companion animal are certainly not what she should be experiencing for her actions. To the Journal editor: The “Letter to the Editor” represents a distinct voice in society. It takes real courage and good writing skills to convey the right message to the public. Overall, it is not an easy task to say something in so few words. Many people lack the skills to express themselves; others do it with no effort. William P. Maki was one of those distinct voices of Upper Michigan. Economic sense needed

To the Journal editor: Over the past couple of years, I have had a great deal of contact with Marquette-area health personnel. The experience has been beneficial and positive. But most of it would not have happened if I didn’t have health insurance as part of my retirement package. Lack of compassion evident

To the Journal editor: I am very disappointed with (the) headline you chose, "Out on the street," for your article concerning the resignation of Coach Richardson (from Northern Michigan University). I found it very unkind and actually very cruel, especially considering how hard Coach Richardson has worked to renew the tradition Wildcat football. I hope that in the future, if you ever find yourself in a difficult life situation, people will treat you with more kindness and consideration than you have shown Coach Richardson and his family.
