Horrific and chilling describe the scenes in Minneapolis: a state of siege as 3,000 ICE agents — most wearing masks and carrying heavy rifles — patrol the streets of Minneapolis. American citizens are being threatened and asked for their papers. People peacefully exercising their First Amendment protest rights are being tear gassed and arrested. Put ICE on ice

To the Journal editor: I am horrified by what the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and the U.S.Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) are doing this in this country and I believe that the majority of Americans do not support their brutal operations. We have an opportunity right now to insist on proper regulation of ICE and CBP. Congress needs to approve funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by January 30th, and the senate needs 60 votes to pass the DHS budget. What we are seeing should be disturbing to everyone

On Jan. 7th, a masked ICE agent shot and killed a 37-year-old mother in her car in Minnesota as she tried to drive away. Renee Nicole Good was a mother of 3 children, who had just brought her 6-year-old son to his elementary school. Renee, a US citizen, born in the United States, was not under any investigation by ICE. She was known for her mild manner. Renee made no threats to the ICE agent who ended her life.
