Questions about Marq-Tran’s plans
To the Journal editor:
I am writing today to address some questions that I have. I have also talked to others and heard their concerns also.
What is happening with Marq-Tran? Will the bus be going back to a fixed route system? Soon?
It is very difficult to get the door-to-door bus. You must call ahead and often that time slot is already taken. Also you must give a return time. Often that is hard to do. Appointments can run behind and your bus may come and go without you.
I know that due to precautions due to COVID-19 that people must wear masks on the bus. That is not a problem. I appreciate the use of masks. But why only one rider at a time? Has that been mandated by the governor? I think more than one person ocould ride and still maintain the six-foot distancing.
The bus is vital to low income and elderly for rides on a daily basis.
The Marq-Tran system fills the void when rides are needed. To take a taxi out and back to the store or an appointment adds $20 to each transaction.
The cost of a taxi is very difficult when someone is on a budget.
Also, is the bus going to return to their regular runs? Rumors have been spreading that the bus is not going to return at all. This is a big concern.
