Lord is answer

To the Journal editor:

“Those that cannot learn from history are destined to repeat it.” A cursory study of the decline and fall of nations shows that the U.S. is following their path to destruction, becoming, instead, the “untied” states.

Consider just two trends: First is a disappearing middle class, the rich grow richer and the poor grow poorer. This impoverished class, repressed by the rich, is a prime breeding ground for rebellion and an easy recruiting ground for anarchists. Their frustrated, repressed and angry sentiment first seen in the black community is now expressed by many in riots.

Second is a decline in moral values characterized by a shift in emphasis from helping others to doing whatever it takes to get what we want. (The end justifies the means.)

Consider a correct (politically incorrect?) view of history. The majority in America in 1776 were men of faith who, to the best of their abilities, did what is right in God’s eyes.

They were motivated by love, sought the best for others, and considered others better than themselves. Their leaders drafted the declaration of independence and constitution. They became our early representatives who sought the best for the country and all men.

And now? We’ve kicked God out of education, entertainment, news media and politics. We are more and more doing what is right in our own eyes, asking “what’s in it for me.” Integrity is rare!

As this godless trend, now widespread, give us what we have today: hate, anger, riots, loss of a good work ethic, etc. In politics, this trend manifests itself as hate for the other party/candidate, seeking their destruction rather than working together.

Our constitution and two-party system, designed to operate with love and respect, cannot survive this mindset. We will soon see the fruit of removing God from our nation: more riots, martial law, suspended elections, and a new kind of government. Historically, this is either a dictatorship (rule by one) or an oligarchy (rule of a few).

Can this course be reversed? A secular solution might be a very strong third party (15-30%). This forces each party to work with at least one other party.

The perfect solution is to return to God and govern by love and integrity. Seek the best for others!! Impossible? No. “All things are possible with God.” Want a change? Get a Bible and devour the Gospel of John.
