Norlite thanked

To the Journal editor:

Norlite Nursing Center in Marquette has been getting a lot of attention lately because of the number of COVID-19 cases that have presented there. I would like to shift that focus to a more positive note.

My mother (Estelle) was a resident at Norlite from January 2018 until her passing in February 2019. Although it was a very difficult, but medically necessary move, she was very scared.

Fortunately though, she was blessed to have come to a place where everyone treated her with respect, kindness, and dignity. Within a couple of weeks, Mom was busy making friends and participating in activities.

Although it wasn’t home, everyone at Norlite made her feel welcome and included, while tending to her medical, physical, emotional, and social needs.

The entire staff at Norlite not only treated my mother well, but also my husband and I. We would visit several times during the week, and we were always greeted warmly and with genuine concern for our well being as well as my mother’s.

We were updated regularly with any type of problem that would arise, and the staff always had the time to help us with any questions or concerns.

All the employees that we encountered at Norlite treated my mother with the very best care, and in my opinion, enabled her to live a happier and longer life than was expected.

I will always be grateful to everyone at Norlite. Thank you again for taking such good care of my Mom. I hope that this pandemic will end soon. In the meantime, stay strong, and know that you are the best!

With gratitude,
