Our Christmas miracle

To the Journal editor:

My wife and I were visiting Marquette Saturday to see our granddaughter (The Sugar Plum Fairy) perform in “The Nutcracker.” We mistakenly thought the performance was at Forest Roberts Theatre.

While there my wife got out of our car and dropped her engagement ring. (How is a whole different story). She didn’t realize her loss until we were at the performance. She was devastated. We returned to Forest Roberts hoping to find the ring to no avail.

While seating for dinner at The Red Lobster, a gentlemen near us over heard the conversation regarding the lost ring and offered his assistance. By virtue of his help and the individual that turned in the ring we have regained possession!

Here is the irony. The gentlemen is a jeweler, Mr. Robert Woods. The individual he contacted for assistance was in possession of the ring. The ring is one of a kind made by a lifelong friend who was an usher in our wedding.

We have been married fifty two years. The creation was his wedding gift to us. Mr. Woods’ daughter has the same name as our greatgranddaughter.

She was also wearing a pair of tennis shoes that our granddaughter had asked for Christmas. That is simply too many coincidences. Thus our Christmas miracle.

Our thanks go out to Mr. Woods and if anyone knows the name of the person that turned in the ring please contact us via The Mining Journal.
