World relief aided

To the Journal editor:

We would like to send our heartfelt thanks to the football players from Ishpeming High School who helped load boxes of quilts, baby care kits, school kits and health kits for Lutheran World Relief at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ishpeming on Oct. 12.

These boxes were put together by church members in the central Upper Peninsula and the Copper Country and will be shipped to people in need all over the world.

Our volunteers learned that the driver of the truck transporting these items to a warehouse in St. Paul was originally from Somalia and that he and his family were recipients of Lutheran World Relief quilts when they lived there.

It was wonderful to have this kind of personal connection, and the high school students who volunteered can feel proud of being part of such an important project.

Sincerely,
