Time to go solar!

To the Journal editor:

One major item from the budget review hearing at the Marquette Board of Light and Power board meeting Tuesday afternoon: the price BLP will pay for natural gas starting Jan. 1 will be double the current rate. Double.

I have it on good authority that energy from the sun is not increasing in cost at all. It hasn’t increased ever. It is not going to increase in cost in the future.

So, if we want predictable, steady “fuel” costs powering our community, we should be switching to solar and storage without delay.

And lets face it — solar does not pollute, does not emit particulates, has low risk of damage due to “spills” and is just better than fossil fuels of any kind.

And note — BLP still has a few solar panels for sale in the solar garden and the tax break for solar purchase is still in effect.

Get on board for the future, my friends!
