Snow management was outstanding

To the Journal editor:

I heartily second Dr. Ken and Maura Davenport’s praise in the March 13 issue of The Mining Journal for the city crews removing the recent avalanche of snow and subsequent ice jams in our streets. I refer to the lake surrounding Quick Trophy’s parking lot, our driveway on Cedar and those on Crescent Street.

Expecting dinner guests (recently), I phoned a cheerful woman on the city maintenance desk at four and was put on their (lengthy) work list. Oh well, I thought, at least I was not on the everlasting “Please hold.”

The guests surfed into our driveway at 5. The valiant city crew arrived at 6 and entertained us with their magnetic detector, steam wand, and shovels of the small manual and large articulated varieties until after dark.

It was so late I am sure the crew missed the hearty cheers and thumbs up extended by my family and guests as they left our now fast flowing stream.

So I wish to publicly thank the young woman on the city maintenance desk, the equipment operators, and the guy in the hip boots. Damn fine job!
