Give love a chance

To the Journal editor:

Again, crimes of hatred — shooting at a synagogue and mailing bombs. Hatred is evil.

Hatred often begins in the brain with thoughts and attitudes — prejudice, pride, envy, jealousy, selfishness, greed. Much hatred is done with words — lies, gossip, criticizing, complaining, cruel words, nagging, yelling.

These words can lead to grudges, bitterness, anger, quarrels, and plans for revenge. This can lead to lack of good behavior in the forms of neglect and abandonment. The final outcomes of hatred are destructive violent behaviors — abuse, injury, murder.

LOVE PREVENTS CRIMES. Hate hurts. Love helps.

“Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself.” Luke 10:27

“…love ye your enemies, and do good…” Luke 6:35

“And be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” Ephesians 4:32

Many people already do a good job of loving. May they continue to keep up the good work.

We all need to love more — start thinking loving thoughts, saying loving words, and doing loving actions.

Let love begin with me. Let love begin with you.

LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
