Likes Cambensy for state House

To the Journal editor:

I write to endorse Sara Cambensy for election as our next state representative. Unlike other candidates, Ms. Cambensy has articulated her positions on a variety of issues, including tax parity.

For example, she has suggested that our state adopt a more pragmatic approach to public services and the costs associated with government, such as that in effect in the state of Minnesota.

Minnesota has enjoyed a budget surplus and uses those funds for public education, infrastructure (roads, bridges, safe water supplies, etc.), and undoubtedly to share revenue with local units of government.

The Republican majority in our state has shown its disdain for public education, a fair and living wage and environmental stewardship (hello Flint), as well as union membership.

These feckless anti-government ideologues, who have their pay and health care covered by our taxes, believe that government should be run like a business, by business, for business.

The idea that government is for all citizens is an anathema to them. This is why we need a voice of reason, compassion and intellect that will come from Cambensy.

Ask the other candidates about the issues that matter: health care, education, mental health services, infrastructure. If you ask those questions of Sara Cambensy, you will know she has firm convictions that bode well for our community and that she deserves your vote.
