Holiday event on tap

To the Journal editor:

The Marquette Area Public School Foundation is once again sponsoring the Holiday Homecoming for graduates of the Marquette Area Schools.

This is the third annual homecoming and is being held in response to alumni of Marquette Senior High School, Graveraet, J.D. Pierce and Bishop Baraga expressing an interest in having an opportunity to visit with one another during the holidays with local friends and others who are back in the community for the holiday.

Each year the attendance has grown and recommendation from the alums and friends is that this should be continued and established as a tradition of the season for our community.

MAPS Foundation, in cooperation with the Landmark Inn, is hosting this third annual Holiday Homecoming at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 26 at the Landmark Inn.

The foundation is helping to facilitate a place and time for recent grads, long-time alumni, graduates living in the area and alums coming back to the area to visit for the holiday with no obligations except to say “Hi.”

It is also a way for the foundation that provides scholarships and assistance for students and teachers projects to say thank you for the continued support for the Marquette Area Public School Foundation.

We also want to acknowledge the contribution of the many individuals and organizations that contributed so generously to the purchase of Chromebooks for all the 5th graders in the school system this year. Great effort!

Everyone is welcome to come, visit and share the spirit of the holidays and enjoy the fun of reconnecting with one another.

Finger foods will be provided and great piano music by Bob Buchkoe, class of 1973. A cash bar will also be available.

We hope you take the opportunity to stop by and visit.

Tom Baldini, president
