GWINN, MI - Donald R. Doyen, 86, of Gwinn, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Brookridge Heights Assisted Living under the care of U.P. Home Health and Hospice. Visitation will be on Wednesday, August 9 in the Baraga Room at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gwinn beginning at 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the church at 12 noon with Rev. DOUGLAS, WY -Franklin Munkres was born in Douglas, Wyoming to Audrey L. (Porter) Munkres and her husband, Dale, on December 18, 1942. At first the family lived on their small ranch Northeast of Douglas. The little ramshackle house had a woodburning stove, a “pitcher pump” by the sink, and a “Hoosier” cabinet. The icebox was filled with ice cut from a pond, and lighting was a pair of kerosene lamps. Of course, there was the outhouse. (Lyons) Bur. He was a 1978 graduate of Marquette Senior High School. Jim had worked at the New York Deli for a number of years.
