He also loved to sing and would serenade his children and anyone that happened to be around to listen to him.

From a very young age he was taught to appreciate all of God’s creatures by taking long walks with his grandmother and parents.

He was taught to love all aspects of nature throughout his childhood, and later had the intuitiveness and independent attitude to learn and discover on his own…. constantly sharing his knowledge with his children to the best of his ability, and in all he knew and discovered about the mysteries of natural history.

Not sure what his favorite song was, but his daughters: Autumn, Celeste, and youngest, Juniper, and sons Linden, Hawk, grandchildren Esme and Leonardo, and loving wife, Jayne, would definitely have the best idea since he performed for them most of all.

His favorite pastimes were hunting with both bow and gun; trout fishing with flies he (and Juniper) tied together; and just being as close as possible with the outdoors and nature—oftentimes with his good friend Brad. When alone, he would take recuperative long walks and skiing forays in the forest at any time of the year. This is where he found peace of mind and relaxation from the stress and demands of his profession.

Dan was also very much into diet and physical fitness.

There is so much more I could say about our first son, Dan, but space and time will not permit it.

Joanna, Josh (Angelica) and baby Sylvan, and I survive him and will keep him in our memory for as long as we survive his leaving us for the heaven he up-to-now only found on earth.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Canale-Tonella Funeral and Cremation Services on Thursday, May 23, beginning at 4:00 pm with a time for the sharing of memories at 5:30 pm.
