David Michael Forsberg

ISHPEMING, MI – September 10, 1957 – May 11, 2023.

David Michael Forsberg, born September 10, 1957, in Ishpeming, Michigan, to parents: Warner (Kayo) Forsberg and Nancy Prusi Forsberg.

The family lived in the old Hintsala farmhouse in Black River, near Republic, Michigan, through his childhood. He graduated in 1975 from Republic – Michigamme High School. Completed certification course at Northern Michigan University for Radio/TV repair. He would work for CCI at area mines to support his aerial habit. As Dave would put it, his misspent youth. He became involved with skydiving, starting with Relatively North Skydiving Club in Baraga, MI. He was a certified jumpmaster and made over 1,000 jumps all over the country. A lifetime member of the United States Parachute Association.

After a layoff in the early 80s, he went to work in Tonopah, Nevada, as a maintenance worker in a casino. From there he found a job with Cyprus Mining Corporation where he worked until transferring to Cyprus Miami Mining Corporation in Arizona, where he developed and evolved over the years in his career. He would then be a part of Freeport McMoran Copper & Gold and completed the Electrician’s Apprenticeship program. He worked the last fifteen years for KGHM International Corporation, Carlota Copper Company in his final role as a Process Electrical/Instrumental Supervisor.

Dave’s interests included: hiking, shooting, trap shooting, hunting, camping and fishing. Helping with fundraisers, supporting the United States Military, loved Rock & Blues music, NPR, guns, knives, flashlights, biographies, and enjoyed the history channel. He was a well-rounded, honest, altruistic man who always helped when asked. He could talk with anyone about any subject and leave you a little wiser. He was very friendly and knew everyone by their full name.

Dave was enthusiastic about lemon meringue pies, education and firearms, a member of the National Rifle Association & Globe-Miami Gun Club. He was an avid hunter and applied regularly for Arizona’s game licenses for antelope, deer, elk, birds, and small game. He also enjoyed following “most” Arizona sports teams attending games, when possible, while remaining a true Green Bay Packer fan, “Cheesehead”.

Dave is survived by his wife: Angi, daughter: Kourtnii Koontz of New York City, his mother: Nancy Forsberg of Republic, MI, brothers: Daniel Forsberg of Negaunee, MI, and Eric Forsberg of Hustisford, WI, sister: Allison Young of Orofino, ID, and nephew: Ezra Foster of Springfield, MO.

Preceded in death by his father: Warner (Kayo) Forsberg, sister: Kelly Anne Foster, his grandparents: Werner and Mary Forsberg and Waino and Julia Prusi, and his beloved dog: Kaiser.

He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

A memorial to be held August 5th, at 1PM, at the residence of Nancy Forsberg.
