Shawn Michael Liupakka
NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP, MI – Shawn Michael Liupakka, age 52, of Negaunee Township, passed away, Monday, February 21st, 2022.
Born April 3rd, 1969, in Marquette, a son of Richard and Kathleen (Trewhella) Liupakka, Shawn was raised in Marquette. Early in life he developed a love of the outdoors, especially hunting, which remained a lifelong passion. Shawn graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1988 and continued his education at Northern Michigan University. For many years he was employed in maintenance with Envoy Airlines (American Eagle). Shawn loved the camaraderie of his friends and family and was generous with assisting anyone in need. Often quiet, he had a caring and sweet personality and loved his family very much. He especially loved watching his niece, Cheyanne, display her horse at horse show competitions and visiting his uncles in Big Bay.
A skillful marksman, he enjoyed his guns and was an active participant in Camp M & M’s Rifle Shoot, winning several times, and last year was awarded second place. Shawn also spent hours on the computer playing his World of Tank game, enjoyed hanging out with his great friends, Hakala, Jimmy, Eddie, and Hirmez, and faithfully fed the two young deer that frequented the back yard.
Shawn is survived by his father, Richard Liupakka; his sister, Tamatha (Dale) Larson of Harvey; niece, Cheyanne Larson and nephew, Laine Larson; his aunt, Jackie (Larry) Bean of Canton; uncles, Bob (Marilyn) Trewhella and Mark Trewhella both of Big Bay; great-aunt, Rosemary Trewhella of Marquette; cousins, Matt, Connie, Jerry, Kevin (Florabel), Lance (Rachel), Jason (Riley), Stacey (Devin), Bobbi Jo, Anna, Michael and Megan; and his canine companion, Buddy.
