New trustees appointed

MARQUETTE – Two new trustees were recently appointed to the Marquette County Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees. The 17 member board serves on a volunteer basis as the legal entity of the Foundation. Gloria LaPointe and Judy Vonck will both serve three year terms.

Gloria LaPointe is a partner in the CPA firm of Cowell & LaPointe of Marquette. Currently she serves as the Treasurer of Community Coordinated Child Care of the Upper Peninsula and is the Treasurer of the Superiorland Soccer Association. While raising two children in Marquette, she has been involved with many organizations benefitting local youth and held a number of leadership positions in Marquette schools, service and church organizations.

Judy Vonck is a lifelong resident of Marquette. She is retired from a long career with the Board of Light and Power. Currently Judy serves on the Board of the Marquette Area Public Schools Education Foundation and Chair of the T.I.M.E. Committee that recently raised $80,000 to put a Chromebook in the hands of every MAPS 5th grader. Judy also serves as a Trustee of the Board for the Upper Peninsula Regional History Museum and serves on the One Book One Community Committee for Marquette.

She Co-chaired the Kids Cove playground Committee and helped organize neighborhood residents to build the Giants Foot Park on Mountain Street.
