Iron County equalized property values for 2024 up 19%

CRYSTAL FALLS — Iron County’s total equalized property value for 2024 grew to $1.01 billion, an increase of 19%, the county board learned Tuesday. Equalization Director Amy Bucek reported that taxable value rose 7.45% to $691 million following an 8.6% increase in 2023. Bucek said that while most property classes saw an increase in taxable value, timber cutover parcels saw a large decrease of 22.5% due to Hematite Township changing all of its parcels that were previously classified as cutover to other classes such as residential. Calumet village receives state Treasury Department grants

CALUMET — The Michigan Department of Treasury announced on Tuesday that Calumet Village has been awarded two grants totaling more than $570,000 through the Financially Distressed Cities, Villages and Townships Grant Program. FCC launching broadband consumer label

HOUGHTON — Internet service providers offering standalone broadband access are required to provide new consumer labels for their service starting Wednesday. The labels, which resume the nutritional labels on food products, will be required at the point of sale, both online and in stores for large ISPs. Dickinson property values soar

IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County’s total equalized property valuation has climbed by a staggering 20% over the past year, reaching $1.45 billion, an increase of about $240 million, county board members learned this week. With other factors included, Equalization Director Matt Baumgartner expects the increase in taxable value this year will be 8.7%, which follows a 5.1% increase in 2023.
