ESCANABA — The Sand Point Lighthouse in Escanaba’s Ludington Park recently received some TLC in the form of needed renovation work. Volunteers spent April 8 repairing the basement walls of the structure and cleaning. KINGSFORD — The First Presbyterian Church of Kingsford served its first Christmas Day community meal in December 1993. A decade later, the church decided their next mission was to open its kitchen for a weekly meal ministry. The First Presbyterian Church Soup Kitchen has since shared a free meal and fellowship for 21 years. Over the years, it evolved from hosting a few guests to now cooking for more than 150. Breitung’s residential growth leads Dickinson

IRON MOUNTAIN — Breitung Township experienced $6.2 million in residential construction activity in 2023 while the city of Iron Mountain saw $13.1 million in planned commercial construction, according to the Dickinson County Construction Code Commission. By ILSA MINOR Escanaba Daily Press ESCANABA — The amount of detectable DNA from the virus responsible for COVID-19 in Escanaba’s wastewater is increasing, according to the lates information from the Sentinel Wastewater Epidemiology Evaluation Project, commonly known as “SWEEP.” According to SWEEP data, the last sample submitted to the project from the Escanaba Wastewater Treatment Plant, dated April 1, contained 37% more viral DNA than all other samples submitted by the plant.
