UPAWS back open for business

MARQUETTE — The Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter has announced that the shelter has reopened following its temporary closure and recovery efforts related to a canine parvovirus outbreak. Beginning Tuesday, walk-in adoptions for dogs, cats and small animals have resumed during regular public hours. "We're excited to welcome our community back," said Ann Brownell, community outreach and volunteer coordinator at UPAWS. Food truck coming to west Ishpeming

ISHPEMING — The Feeding America Food Truck will be at North Iron Church, Palms Avenue, next to US 41 West, from 8:30-10 a.m. July 2nd. This is a drive through. If participants have an empty box, they can bring it and if not, organizers have a container. If participants do not have a car, there will be a truck at the VFW parking lot.

International Bridge closing to vehicle traffic

SAULT STE. MARIE – The Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge will be closed to vehicle traffic during the annual International Bridge Walk on Saturday. The bridge will close to vehicle traffic at 8:45 a.m. and will reopen at approximately 10:45 a.m.
