Fishing expert to give address
MARQUETTE — Peter White Public Library, in collaboration with the Library of Michigan, will welcome Upper Peninsula native and passionate angler Tim Schulz for a special presentation of his Michigan notable book, “A Cast Away in Montana.” The event will take place on from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Monday, June 9, in the Community Room at Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
In “A Cast Away in Montana”, Schulz recounts his transformative first fishing trip to Montana. He blends humor and insight to explore themes of life, loss, and self-discovery. With a unique storytelling style, Schulz provides readers with history and a sense of place along the shorelines of popular rivers, tying his line into fly-fishing lore. The book resonates with fly-fishing enthusiasts and anyone seeking a meaningful connection with the world around them.
Schulz’s reading offers an opportunity to meet the author, hear about the inspiration behind his compelling narrative, and experience his captivating literary journey. He will share insights into his writing process and the personal stories that shaped his work, followed by a Q and A session with the audience.
Tim Schulz resides in the U.P., where he works as a professor of engineering. Outside the classroom, he is a writer, musician, part-time fishing guide and member of North America’s oldest and slowest hockey team. His work has been featured in Hatch” Magazine, The Flyfish Journal and Gray’s Sporting Journal. Schulz is also the author of “The “Habits of Trout: And Other Unsolved Mysteries.”
