Health department offering extended hours for vaccines

MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Health Department is now offering extended hours for child and adolescent appointments for flu vaccine and COVID-19 bivalent boosters.

Appointments are available until 6 p.m. Nov. 28 and Dec. 1, 5 and 8.

The bivalent COVID-19 vaccines include a component of the original virus strain to provide broad protection against COVID-19 and a component of the omicron variant to provide better protection against COVID-19 caused by the omicron variant. These are called bivalent COVID-19 vaccines because they contain these two components.

The Modern bivalent vaccine is authorized for use as a booster dose in individuals ages 6 and older. The Pfizer-BioNTech bivalent vaccine is authorized for use as a booster dose in individuals ages 5 and older.

To make an appointment for a flu shot, COVID-19 bivalent boosters or both, call 906-475-7844.
