UPMGA offers garden tour

MARQUETTE — Ruth Ziel will host a tour of her gardens on Saturday, July 30.

Ziel has multiple gardens, some in shade others in full sun. Her front yard is planted in native grasses and flowers. She has a native garden in the backyard, as well as a vegetable garden, planted pots with herbs and bulbs, and a greenhouse. Ziel uses companion planting, and organic gardening techniques.

This will be the first scheduled Upper Peninsula Master Garden Association garden tour in three years. All are welcome to join.

The tour is scheduled between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. If it is raining on the morning of July 30, the rain date will be Sunday, July 31 at that same time 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. If necessary, the change will be confirmed with an email sent on Saturday morning.

Ziel’s address is: 734 Lakewood Lane in Chocolay. Directions: From U.S. Highway 41 S in Harvey, turn east on Main Street, then left on Green Bay Street and cross the Chocolay River bridge. Turn right and continue east on Lakewood Lane to 734 Lakewood Lane.
