MARQUETTE — The city of Marquette is seeking a new logo to be used for stationery, business cards, T-shirts, signs, posters and newsletters. Both amateur and professional artists’ designs will be considered. A $300 fee will be paid for the selected design. Submitted designs will also be considered for purchase by the city for use by other committees and departments. Copyright of the purchased designs will be owned by the city of Marquette. The logo designs should represent the Marquette atmosphere, have a dynamic visual impact, and be camera ready. Presentation should be made in a 5-inch by 5-inch format suitable for reduction or enlargement. The artist should use two colors and incorporate “The Superior Location, Marquette, Mich.” in the design. All entries must be submitted by April 22 to the Arts and Culture Committee, Office of City Manager, 300 W. Baraga.

NEGAUNEE — It is expected that hundreds of Negaunee youngsters will go to Ishpeming today to enter their names in the label-saving campaign being conducted by the Carpenter Cook company throughout the county. Officials of the Carpenter Cook company have made arrangements with the Twin Cities Motor Coach company to transport youngsters to and from Ishpeming starting at 9 o’clock this morning and continuing until 3 o’clock this afternoon. The campaign was started last week and already more than 700 Ishpeming children have entered. Each child registering today will be given a candy bar and instructions for the contest. Campaign headquarters in Ishpeming are located at the corner of First and Pearl streets and Miss Vialo Faust, of this city, is in charge of the station.
