Minor sewage overflow reported in Marquette

MARQUETTE — A city of Marquette Public Works crew Thursday afternoon responded to a small sanitary sewer overflow, according to Mark O’Neill, director of Municipal Utilities.

The location of the overflow was the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Magnetic Street. It started at 4:30 p.m. and ended at 5:30 p.m. An estimated 15-20 gallons was released. The overflow was confined to the grassy area around the manhole. No impact to waterways took place.

Cleanup included vactoring up the impacted area and disinfecting with barn lime. The cause of the backup was tree roots and wipes, O’Neill said in a written statement.

Starting at $3.23/week.
