SHEBOYGAN, WIS. –A Lake Michigan fishing trip took Mike and Corby Sertich a good 4 miles off the Sheboygan shoreline when they spotted something swimming in the water. “My dad said to me, ‘What is it?’ I stood up in the boat to see, and, I couldn’t believe it–a dog, way out there,” Corby Sertich said. “We could see she was tired, she was trying to head south and she was getting tossed around by the waves.” As the Sertich boat pulled close, the dog became so frightened she tried to swim away, he said. “We cut the motor and that helped. When we finally managed to grab her neck and drag her on board, she just laid there with her legs trembling.” “Nobody has any idea whose dog this is, or where she came from, she doesn’t have any tags.” Veterinarian John Travis said the dog likely fell or jumped from a boat big enough that her absence went unnoticed.
