LWV plans special program

MARQUETTE –The League of Women Voters of Marquette County is hosting a special program Wednesday, during the league’s regular meeting time.

The topic is the U.S. Electoral College, which will be outlined from its beginnings to its long-term effects on elections. The presenter, a downstate member and attorney, will join in via Zoom to share her research and analysis of this influential American institution. She serves on the LWV-Michigan Board of Directors as vice president of program and is an active member of the state advocacy committee. This topic is an interesting and important overview of the constitutional election process.

The meeting will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Wednesday. All current members have received an email invitation and agenda. Other community members (youth, women, and men) are invited to join in and can obtain an invitation by sending an email to: dthomsona@gmail.com

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
