2 local fugitives arrested

MARQUETTE — The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office announced that two fugitives, Darrell James Patterson Jr., and Dennis Lee Swenor, were arrested over the weekend.

Patterson, 23, was wanted out of the 25th Circuit Court on four counts of abandoning/forfeiting bond, and one count of tampering with an electronic monitoring device.

Patterson was released from jail with a GPS tether on Jan. 20, but cut off his tether on Feb. 4, fleeing from supervision.

Swenor, 35, was being sought because he failed to report to jail on charge of possession of a controlled substance and a felony charge of absconding/forfeiting bond, according to the sheriff s office.

Swenor was sentenced over Zoom to serve 18 months to eight years in the Michigan Department of Corrections. However, police said Swenor failed to report to follow instructions by a judge to report to jail on Nov. 20.

The sheriff’s office said Patterson is in custody at the Marquette County Jail while Swenor is in custody at the Brown County Jail in Wisconsin.

The office thanked the public for the tips that were received.
