LWV launches Vote411.org

MARQUETTE — Do you know who’s running for your local school board? Township Trustee? Who are the candidates seeking a seat on the Marquette City Commission? Did you know there are two candidates running for the office of Sheriff in Marquette County?

Many ballot for the Nov. 3 election will be long and include lots of candidates for everything from township officials to President of the United States.

It may feel a bit overwhelming, but help is available.

The League of Women Voters of Marquette County has launched the trusted, non-partisan, award-winning online Voters’ Guide Vote411.org for all of Marquette County.

Check it out. Type in Vote411.org (or just Vote411) and up will come a screen that helps one find all sorts of helpful information: what’s on the ballot, whether one is already registered, where the local clerk’s office is located, and more.

But the best part of Vote411.org is the candidate profiles and their responses to questions about issues that are important to everyone.

The LWV invited all the candidates running in contested races around Marquette County to submit information about their experience, education, and why they are running for office. The LWV also asked them to respond to questions about their priorities and how they would address key issues facing their community.

Once on the Vote411.org website, just type in your address. You will see the names of the candidates who will be appearing on your ballot. You can click on the candidates’ names and compare their positions.

After you’ve decided who to vote for, you have the option of filling out your absentee ballot from the comfort, privacy and convenience of your own home. If you choose to vote early from home, be sure to sign the outside of the envelope before returning your ballot: by mailing it early and safely to your clerk or, better yet, by dropping it off in person at your clerk’s office or in the ballot drop box outside your clerk’s office.

A ballot drop box, if available, is safe, secure, and available 24/7.
