Mass Timber Summit held in April

EAST LANSING — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the Michigan Forest Biomaterials Institute will hold the Michigan Mass Timber Summit April 20-21, hosted by Michigan State University in East Lansing.

Owners, developers, architects, lumber producers, constructors, code officials, engineers, students and anyone interested in learning more about mass timber construction are invited to attend. Registration is $120 or $50 for students.

Mass timber construction, a system using engineered wood to construct the load-bearing structure of buildings, is catching the interest of architects and tradespeople. Adopting this new building method presents opportunities for aesthetics, cost savings and use of renewable materials.

More information about the Michigan Mass Timber Summit, including a summit agenda, registration and lodging details, is available at MIFBI.org/Events.

Summit sponsorship and exhibit opportunities are available. Contact Julie Manley at Julie@MIFBI.org or Denise Pallarito at DPallarito@Timbermen.org for sponsor information.
