MARQUETTE — AT&T cell, long distance and 911 service was down for several hours in parts of western Marquette County on Tuesday.

Marquette County Emergency Management announced the outage on its Facebook page, posting about it at 7:48 p.m. It also said someone was stationed at the Michigamme Township Fire Hall until the issue was resolved.

Reader posts also indicated internet service was down.

A Facebook post at 9:29 p.m. reported service had been restored.

Teresa Schwalbach, Marquette County Emergency Management Program coordinator, said in a telephone interview this morning a cut fiber optics line caused the outage, but had no further details.
