LWV to hold monthly meeting

MARQUETTE — The monthly meeting of the League of Women Voters of Michigan, Marquette County Member-At-Large State Unit, will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

The LWV is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues and influences public policy through education and advocacy.

The public is welcome to attend this and all monthly meetings. Meetings are held at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette, lower level, Studio 1.

BLP, Marquette offices to close

MARQUETTE — The Marquette Board of Light and Power office will be closed Thursday in observance of Independence Day, with several Marquette city offices to close Thursday and Friday for the holiday.

For BLP-related emergencies, call 228-0300.

City offices to close Thursday and Friday include those at Marquette City Hall, Lakeview Arena, the Marquette Arts and Culture Center and the Municipal Service Center.

Marquette Police, Fire, and Public Works and Utilities departments will remain operational during this time. There will be no change in garbage pickup for city residents.
