Area sees a rash of crashes
5 sent to hospital
NEGAUNEE — Five people were transported to UP Health System-Marquette for injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash that occurred around 11:25 a.m. Monday on U.S. 41 near Midway Drive in Negaunee Township.
The Michigan State Police Negaunee Post reported Alonzo Feldbauer, 79, of Ishpeming, was headed east on U.S. 41 in a 2002 Toyota Tundra when he lost control and crossed the center line, and was struck by a westbound vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet, driven by Alex Fraley, 29, of Gwinn.
Both drivers and their passengers were transported to UPHS-Marquette. In the Feldbauer vehicle was 69-year-old Patricia Feldbauer, while passengers in the Fraley vehicle were Jessika Fraley, 24, and their 3-year-old daughter.
Feldbauer was found to be at fault and was cited for violation of basic speed law-traveling too fast for road conditions.
Troopers were assisted by the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, Negaunee Police Department and the Negaunee Township Fire Department.
