1 injured, 1 cited after 3-vehicle crash

MARQUETTE — One person was transported to the hospital for a minor injury and one woman was cited after a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Chocolay Township, according to the the Chocolay Township Police Department.

The accident, which took place around 2:35 p.m. on U.S. 41 South near Snyder Drugs, occurred when a southbound vehicle driven by a 30-year-old Marquette woman struck a vehicle that was stopped on the highway.

This caused a “chain reaction accident with a third vehicle,” police said.

The Marquette woman was cited for failure to stop causing an accident, according to officials.

Chocolay Township Police Department was assisted by Chocolay Township Fire and Rescue, the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office and UP Health System EMS.

City Commission to meet Monday

MARQUETTE — The Marquette City Commission will hold its first regular meeting of the near year at 6 p.m. Monday in commission chambers at city hall, 300 W. Baraga Ave.

Committee meeting canceled

MARQUETTE — The Harbor Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled due to lack of agenda items.
