Ishpeming man dies from injuries sustained in crash

MARQUETTE — A 21-year-old Ishpeming man has died from injuries he sustained in a crash that happened Sunday, according to a release from the Michigan State Police, Iron Mountain Post.

His name has not been released by police, nor have the names of others involved in the accident.

According to a release from the MSP, troopers responded to a two-vehicle crash at about 7:46 p.m. CT Sunday along M-95 in Dickinson County’s Sagola Township near the Marquette County line.

The investigation determined that a vehicle operated by a 66-year-old man from Channing was traveling southbound when the driver lost control and crossed the centerline.

This southbound vehicle collided with a northbound vehicle being operated by the 21-year-old Ishpeming man, with a 21-year-old Republic woman as a passenger. Both were transported by ambulance to UP Health System-Marquette.

The driver of the southbound vehicle was transported by ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries.

All three were wearing seatbelts.

Assisting the MSP on the scene were the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, Star Ambulance, Beacon Ambulance and Sagola Fire and Rescue.

The crash is still under investigation and once completed, results will be forwarded to the Dickinson County Prosecutor’s Office, police said.
